In/around the new dunes at Crook Bank were 9+ twite, 50 yellowhammer, 40 skylark, 10 reed bunting, 160 linnet, 5 meadow pipit and 2 stonechat. 120123 - Green woodpecker calling near Sea View, 21 little egrets on the saltmarsh. Aconites in flower at Sea View. 16 twite and 2 snow bunting near Crook Bank. 52 mute swan and 60 whooper swan feeding in fields on the outskirts of Theddlethorpe, with the whooper swans roosting on the NNR each evening. 130123 - Snowdrops in flower at Sea View. Around Crook Bank were 10 twite, 50 linnet, 28 snow bunting, 2 stonechat, 29 bar-tailed godwit and 15 grey plover. A single gannet flew north. 140123 - Green woodpecker foraging for food on grass near Sea View and weasel hunting in area. 150123 - Male marsh harrier, 2 common buzzards hunting over the saltmarsh with a barn owl and sparrowhawk hunting nearby at Sea View. At least 25 pintail with mallard in an area of water filled creek on the saltmarsh. 94 whooper swans feeding on field Theddlethorpe. Barn owl hunting over the saltmarsh at Rimac in the afternoon. 160123 - Very brief flurries of snow in afternoon. In Paradise wood small mixed flock of blackbirds and redwing. At least 14 blackbirds at Sea View. A single shag flew north over the sea from Mablethorpe. 20 common scoter and 3 velvet scoter on the sea at Mablethorpe North End. 170123 - On the outer dunes in the low areas of sea blight a good mix of at least 7 snow buntings, 15 linnets and 20 twite one of which was colour ringed white?/ metal // orange/green at Spurn Point on 3rd November 2022. In the surrounding area a minimum of 40 yellowhammers, 5 reed buntings, 4 dunnock and a single stonechat. Green woodpecker calling at Sea View. Male marsh harrier and a buzzard over the saltmarsh at Rimac. 38+ twite at Crook Bank per Graham Catley. 500 wigeon and 200 teal on the Great Eau at Sea View. 142 whooper swan (24 juvenile) feeding in fields near Theddlethorpe village. Bird song over recent days: great tit, song thrush, Cetti’s warbler and great spotted woodpecker drumming.
